The German Ram fry are still going strong – they are finally starting to take on that Ram shape, although they are still pretty small.
There are a lot less of them than we started out with, but there are still at least 20 or so, so I’m happy.
We also have some Bushynose pleco fry that just left the cave yesterday.
Well one left yesterday, two are out now, and the rest are still in the cave.
There is an article about Breeding Bristlenoses in the August, 2008 Tropical Fish Hobbyist magazine, and it says that the fry are cannibalistic, so that probably explains why don’t have too many that survive.
We do have two larger fry from about 3 spawns ago, so I am sure they are having a field day with the younger fry.
Here’s one of the newer fry. He’s so tiny!

Happy Independence Day!
The baby rams are still going strong.
I’m really in shock – there was so much fungus on the eggs that I didn’t think anything would hatch.
The only reason that we didn’t take the slate that the eggs were on and clean it up is that Jeff was about to leave when we noticed the fungus – then when we went to clean the slate their were fry everywhere.
The fry are still going strong, swimming everywhere.
This is the largest hatch rate that we’ve ever had, and there are fry everywhere,
There have to be at least 200 fry in the tank.
Hopefully they’ll continue to do well.
The picture shows a few of the fry in front of a moss ball.
They’re so tiny, and so cute.

This is a picture of one of the German Blue Ram fry that was taken when the fry were about 3 months old.
There is a pretty wide variation in the sizes of the fry, although they are all tiny.
They’ve come along way though, remember the 1 day old German Blue Ram Fry?

The fry seem to be doing well, and are still eating baby brine shrimp, along with some flake food.
They eat pretty much anything that is in the tank.
We do have the fry in a barebottom 10 gallon tank, but we decided to move a sponge filter over from another 10 gallon tank, and ended up blowing black sand all over the tank – that’s what you see on the bottom of the tank.

The German Blue Ram Fry are still doing great. Here’s a picture of one that was taken last Sunday, about 21 days after the fry hatched.
The German Blue Ram Fry and the Australian Desert Goby fry are still eating Hikari First Bites, and Baby Brine Shrimp (BBS), and most of them are big enough now that you can see their little bellies turn orange after they’ve eaten BBS.
We have at least 22 left, and there’s a pretty big size difference in the smallest one and the larger one.
They started getting a more noticeable Ram shape around last Thursday.
Jeff was pretty excited to see that.
