Discus Eggs

Discus eggs on a clay flowerpot

I finally got a picture of some discus eggs for you.

The eggs are on a clay pot, which is the preferred egg laying site.

This was the first or second batch of eggs after Papa Discus’s out of water experience, so they didn’t last long. I think that the discus ate these eggs, although with one batch they did wait until the fry hatched, and then ate the fry.

We do have another batch of fry that hatched this morning, and they’re still doing ok.

When Jeff went to feed the discus this morning the female was watching the fry, and the male was up at the front of the tank waiting for some food.

And they were in exactly the same place when I just went to check on them.

Hopefully these guys will make it.

I really hope they survive this time!

Had a question for you, Sarah, about discus fry but prefer not to do it over comments. Could you e-mail me at email removed to prevent spam?

    Thanks,
    Ava

Thanks Ava, I hope they survive this time.

So far they are looking good.

I risked taking one picture of them to see if I could get a picture of the fry on the father, and it didn’t turn out.

Maybe if I’m patient I’ll get one.

I just got your email, thanks.
