Discus Fry

Posted by Sarah on November 19, 2008

The discus fry are doing great.

These guys were attached to the parents on October 19, and here’s how they looked 2 days ago.

There is a wide variety of sizes in the batch, although you can’t see it in the picture.

We’ve had a couple of deaths, one at a time, but I think that’s to be expected.

We’ve seen one with a hint of orange color on the top fin, and one or two with little black stripes, but so far they’re pretty colorless.

They’re still cute though.

They are very cute!!! How big do they get?

  • Sarah said,

They say that they can get up to 6-8 inches in the proper conditions.

Do they gain more color as they grow or do they usually remain pretty colorless?

I’m an avid follower of your recent adventures! Keep up the good work

    Thanks Ava,

They gain more color as they grow.

Discus can come in tons of colors, but their parents were Emerald Green Sapphire Discus, so it will be fun to see what they look like when they are grown.
