What’s your favorite fish?
Posted by Sarah on January 20, 2009
I am going to start having a weekly fish question for a while, just to see how it goes.
Our first question is what’s your favorite fish.
My favorites are probably the Australian Desert gobies.
They’re cute, fun to watch, and they’re easy to take care of.
What’s your favorite fish?

If you can think of any other questions that I should ask, just let me know.

I think my favorite fish changes day by day.
I really like my Blue Rams because I love their color and they are fun to watch while they chase each other around.

Hi Jeff, the blue rams really are fun to watch.
What are some of your other favorites?
I have to say it feels wierd to comment back when I could ask you in person, but it’s all good.

My favorite fish: My female Betta imbellis! She got me back into the hobby after being away from it for several years. I was at Wal-Mart several months ago and though i don’t like buying fish from there, i always have to look. Well I guess you could say it was love at first site. I had a 1 gal.tank at home setting around, soooo I paid the $3.99 and was on my way. A little time went by and I added some cory and three tank mates. I knew I had it way over stocked, but I had a 29 gal. sitting around. Well after i had it cycled @ had the rock work done @ plants just right, Squishy (my Betta) @ her tank mates had a new home.
She is the smartest fish i have ever seen! One tap on the top of the tank and she is there looking for food. If there is a conflict between 2 other fish, she will get between them and make them stop it. She watches every move I make. Really cool fish!
Now that tank houses Dawarf Gourami, Gold @ Blue Rams, Cory, Gold Tetra, Midget (Otocinclus) Sucker Catfish @ Malayan snails (the best gravel cleaners ever.
My doughter has out grown the 1 gal. with guppies and has moved on to a 14 gal. tank.
My wife has moved up from the 1 gal tank to a 1.5 and has 1 male Betta @ 2 Ottos.
My oldest daughter is looking into getting her a tank.
It all started with a not to flashy fishy, a female Betta imbellis with a good mind and a big heart.
She now has her own 5 gal. Tetra Hex tank and 2 Cory cat to clean up after her. Thanks to her I am back to the best hobby ever! Jay – Texas

Jay, you’re pretty lucky to have found a betta imbellis in Walmart.
They are so cute, it sounds like you and your family have a pretty wide variety of fish.
If Jeff and I ever have kids who want their own fish tanks we are going to be in trouble
!
I bet it’s so cute to watch your betta breaking up fish fights – you should try to take a video of that sometime!
Laurie discus are pretty cool.
I love the red scribble ones!
I’ve only seen one, but it was gorgeous.
