My last African Dwarf Frog Died this weekend

Posted by Sarah on February 16, 2009

My last African Dwarf Frog died this weekend.

It’s kind of disappointing, but considering that I bought all of them from a place that was starving the frogs, it’s not too unexpected.

That kind of abuse has to take a toll on your body, even if you’re properly taken care of later.

Two or three of the frogs that I got were so skinny that they died within a day after I took them home.

The stress of the move was just too much for them.

It’s a shame that some people don’t know how to take care of the pets they are selling and it’s worse that they often don’t care.

Just because African Dwarf Frogs live in a fish tank, doesn’t mean that they can be treated like fish.

African Dwarf frogs need frog food.

Sure they might last for a little while without it, but sooner or later your bad habits are going to catch up them.

Should they suffer because of your neglect?

I am sooooo sorry the hear that you ADF’s didn’t make it. I have just gotten into those little guys and just love to watch them do all the strange stuff they do. I bought my first one four weeks ago and two more yesterday. I have them in a Hex 5 with three Cherry Barb & two Peppered Cory. So far so good. They realy like blood worms.
So wish me and my Simon, Einstein and Franklin luck in the coming months. I read that if you can keep them healthy that they can live five years or more and that is what I am (hopping) for.
I hope that you can find some healthier frogs in the future and can have great success with them.
And oh ya, nothing ticks me off more than a dealer that doesn’t take care of their livestock, for whatever the reason.
I feel that we are just the stewards of all the wonderful living things of this world.

    Thank you Jay.

The ADF’s are adorable, but I don’t think I’ll have any more for awhile, there are too many other fish I want to be able to devote a tank to them right now.

Good luck with Simon, Einstein and Franklin!

I hope they’ll be around for a long time!
