Discus eggs on a clay flowerpot
I finally got a picture of some discus eggs for you.
The eggs are on a clay pot, which is the preferred egg laying site.
This was the first or second batch of eggs after Papa Discus’s out of water experience, so they didn’t last long. I think that the discus ate these eggs, although with one batch they did wait until the fry hatched, and then ate the fry.
We do have another batch of fry that hatched this morning, and they’re still doing ok.
When Jeff went to feed the discus this morning the female was watching the fry, and the male was up at the front of the tank waiting for some food.
And they were in exactly the same place when I just went to check on them.
Hopefully these guys will make it.

Our angelfish laid eggs last night.
This was the second time they’ve laid eggs, but so far we haven’t had any hatch. I’ve heard that’s normal though, and that sometimes it can take ten times before fry hatch from eggs.
I’ve also heard that sometimes two females can lay eggs together, although last time we only noticed one fish actually laying eggs, the other fish was kind of following behind the first fish.
So far about 17 of the eggs are white this morning, which means there infertile, but we’ll see how they do.
Last time we had angelfish eggs the eggs lasted two or three days, then they were gone.
Of course the last time the angelfish were in a community tank, and this time they are alone.
